College students in Texas need electricity

by admin on August 22, 2013

School is starting up in this month which means you are making sure you have your books, class schedule and thousands of other little things but you forgot about electricity?

Because Texas is deregulated you will have to sign up with an electric provider. I understand you are thinking why do I need to sign up with a provider. Can’t they just turn it on?

Living in a regulated area means you pay the utility company and they take care of everything. You have one provider to choose from and everyone pays the same prices.

Deregulation has opened up the electricity market making it easy to save money on electricity by giving you a choice. It may not seem like something you would care for since it just goes on a to-do list but it will save you money.

Most companies offer two types of plans, variable and fixed. The names should tell you all you need to know about these plans but they don’t. Variable is always cheaper than fixed but fixed is the proffered choice. Reason why? Fixed plans may cost higher than the variable plan for the first month but after that you will be saving money because variable plans go up in prices fast.

I should warn you that not all of Texas is deregulated which makes the whole thing even more confusing. An easy way to see if your are living/moving in a deregulated area is by typing your zip into the compare chart at the top of the page. If you see rates that means you are in a deregulated area.

Now I have been through college and the last thing you want to do is shop for something burring like electricity. That is why this site exist to give you and easy shopping experience. We try to give you as many option as we can. We don’t want you to have to go to every electric companies website to find rates than compare them to find the right rate.

We put together a simple easy to read chart with several competitive providers rates and plans for you to compare. Then all you have to do is sign up. Check it out.
